"High Artistic Scholarship Award in Singing Specialisation" granted by the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia for two consecutive years, Lorena Ferreiro is a Spanish coloratura singer that, as per to the critics, "not only stands out because of her tender timbre but also thanks to her acting skills".
Graduated in Classical Singing at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Navarra, Lorena studied with Paloma Pérez-Iñigo and obtained top marks throughout her degree. From then to this day, she has been working on further enhancing her technique with Inmaculada Martínez. She was awarded a Professional Degree, majoring in Piano at the Artebi Music Conservatory with Danuta Filiochovska. She also achieved the BA Musical Education Teaching and specialized in Theatre and Scenic Arts under the Theatre and Scenic Arts Specialist´s University Master´s Degree at the Basque Country's University. It is there where she attended lectures by John Strasberg (Actor’s Studio), Jose Luis Raymond (Royal High School of Dramatic Arts of Madrid) , Ricardo Iniesta (Centro de Arte Producciones Atalaya), Pere Planella (Institut del Teatre of Barcelona), just to mention some names.
She has received masterclasses from Montserrat Caballé, where she war awarded a scholarship by the UIMP of Santander, by Íride Martínez, Carlos Álvarez, Carlos Chausson, Jaume Aragall, Maria Bayo, Isabel Monar, Ana Luisa Chova,... and with the repetiteurs Alejandro Zabala, Manuel Burgueras, Rubén Fernández Aguirre, Jorge Robaina, Fabrice Boulanger, Aurelio Viribay, Aki Moriya, Pierre Clement, Husan Park,...
Lorena Ferreiro has taken part in several opera productions, such as in L'elisir d'amore (Donizetti) as Adina, in The Magic Flute (Mozart) as the Queen of the Night and Papagena, in Der Schauspieldirektor (Mozart) as Madame Silberklang, in La Sonnambula (Bellini) as Lisa, in Dido and Eneas (Purcell) as Belinda, in Carmen (Bizet) as Frasquita, in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart) as Susanna, in L’enfant et les Sortilèges (Ravel) as Le Feu, La Princesse and Le Rossignol, as well as in zarzuelas, such as El Caserio (Guridi) as Ana Mari, in Casado y Soltero (Gaztambide) as Inés and in La Rosa del Azafrán (Guerrero) as Catalina.
As far as symphonic music and performed oratorio are concerned, it must be underlined Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Fauré’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Rutter’s Magnificat and Requiem.
She has been directed by William G. Costabile Cisco and Alejandro Aranda on stage and musically, by conductors like Juan Pablo Valencia, Vicent Egea, Yannis Hadjiloizou and Rinaldo Zhok.
She also represented the principal role of the play "El Reloj" (Dario Fó) in theatre, as well as Belle in The Beauty and the Beast musical at the Social Antzoki Theater. Another achievement of hers is the recording OST of the documentary Kresala for the Spanish EITB tv channel.
She has also been involved in several editions of: Musika-Música Festival (Bilbao); Young Singer Cycle 2019 (by Madrid’s Opera Friends’ Association); Basque’s Musical Spring, (by Alfredo Kraus’ Music Association); Juventudes Musicales’ Season Concerts, etc.
Among the theatres she has performed are: the Euskalduna Music Palace (Bilbao, Spain), Gayarre Theatre (Pamplona, Spain), Bauer Palace Theatre (Madrid, Spain), Montserrat Caballé Auditorium (Madrid, Spain), Victoria Theatre (Priego de Córdoba, Spain), Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao, Spain), Social Antzoki Theatre (Basauri, Spain),…
Among her future engagements for this 2024-25 season, she will debut the role of Rosina in Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” conducted by Tulio Gagliardo and Roberto Gianola in Fuerteventura Opera (Canary islands, Spain). In addition to this, she will performe Rutter’s Requiem in Euskalduna Palace under the baton of José R. Pascual-Vilaplana, among others.
As far as languages are concerned, she has been awarded the First Certificate in English (FCE), C2 in Basque, A1 in French, B1.2 in German and B1 in Italian by the Official Language School of Deusto.
